Mattress removal in Whittier
Your old mattress out of the bedroom and off your hands, anywhere around Whittier.
Louie does mattress removal in Whittier and the surrounding LA and Orange County cities. He started Cast Out Hauling & Junk Removal in 2025 and does the carrying himself on most jobs. Call or text (562) 781-9101 for a price. A mattress pickup is smaller than most jobs on this site, and it's more awkward. You're usually dealing with one or two big pieces that sag in the middle and catch on every door frame between the bedroom and the driveway.
A lot of these jobs start right after a new bed gets delivered and the old queen and box spring are leaning against the hallway wall. Some come from a manager turning over a unit where the last tenant left the bed behind. Others come from a family clearing out a spare room, or from someone with a futon that's been sitting in the garage since the last move. If the frame and headboard are going too, they ride along on the same trip, and so can a dresser or nightstand if you want furniture removal done at the same time.
Louie is open 24/7. He aims for a 24 hour turn around. Same-day pickups do happen when his schedule has room, but they're never promised. He works out of Whittier and drives to Norwalk, Downey, Fullerton, Brea and plenty of other nearby towns, all of them on the page that lists each city he drives to. A mattress in a Cerritos condo and one in a La Habra Heights guest room get the same carry and the same pricing.

What's usually in a mattress pickup
The typical pile is short. There's a mattress, the box spring under it, and sometimes the metal frame or a headboard that came off with a screwdriver. A pillow-top king is heavy and floppy at the same time, and it likes to fold over on the stairs. Memory foam bends in half and won't stay flat in your arms. A box spring is light but wide, and its corners find every wall in a narrow hallway.
Bunk beds, trundles and daybeds come apart into more pieces than people expect. That's what sets this apart from a garage or a whole-house job. There isn't much volume, but each piece is big, and most of the work is getting it out of the back bedroom and onto the truck.
How Louie carries a mattress out
Nothing has to be dragged to the curb. Louie walks in, picks the mattress up from where it sits and carries it out to the truck. He usually works alone. When a job needs more hands, like a heavy king coming down a narrow staircase from a second-floor bedroom, he brings a small crew. Pulling the sheets off and clearing a path from the bed to the front door makes the carry go quicker, and it keeps the corners off your walls.
Some of these jobs come down an apartment stairwell or along a long walkway from a back unit. For a rental unit, the manager can book the pickup, tell Louie which unit the bed is in and arrange how he gets inside. Louie works out the time with whoever booked it. He gives an hour window for when he'll pull up, so the manager knows when to have the door open.
Where an old mattress goes after pickup
Louie tries donation first. A mattress in good shape goes to a local donation center when one can use it. When it can't be donated, it gets recycled when possible. What's real trash goes to the landfill. The frame, headboard and box spring follow that same order.
A sturdy bed frame that still holds together is worth mentioning when you call, so Louie knows it may be headed for donation. Here's where mattresses, bed frames and other household items end up once they're off the truck. Ask Louie when you call where your mattress is headed, and he'll tell you straight.
What a mattress pickup costs
Every job starts at the $120 minimum, a single mattress included. A twin from a kid's room and a California king start from that same floor. Past that, Louie sets one number for the whole job based on how much room the load takes on the truck. A box spring and a frame take more room than a mattress alone, so they can move the number before he gives it to you. Once the pieces are loaded, the number doesn't change.
A king coming down from a second-floor bedroom can bring the Upstairs (+$25) add-on, and a bed in a back unit at the end of a long walkway can bring Carry over 50 feet (+$50). Those are the only add-ons Louie lists. If either one applies, he names it before the work starts, and he never adds one after. Senior and military discounts are offered, so mention it when you reach out. Call or text (562) 781-9101.
What Louie leaves behind on a bedroom haul
Bedrooms and the closets next to them hold more than beds. Louie won't take hazardous materials, which means the half-used paint cans on the closet shelf, cleaning chemicals, fuel, or anything that might contain asbestos. Set those aside before he shows up so they don't get mixed in with the mattress. He also won't take concrete or dirt, or any pile that has to be shoveled, so the bag of potting soil tucked in the closet corner stays behind.
Lifting the mattress often turns up what's been stored under the bed. Ask Louie about any of it when you call or text.
How the price works
Call or text (562) 781-9101. Louie looks at how much room it takes on the truck and gives you one number for the whole job. The number doesn't change once it's loaded. Jobs start at $120. The only add-ons: upstairs +$25, carry over 50 feet +$50. He tells you before he starts. More on how pricing works.
