Louie Villareal, owner of Cast Out Hauling & Junk Removal, handles residential junk removal for Whittier homes and for houses across the surrounding LA and Orange County cities. Call or text (562) 781-9101 for a price. Louie handles houses, apartments and condos where the junk is still inside. Think of the recliner in the back bedroom or the dresser on the second floor. A single armchair counts, and so does every room in the place. Nothing gets dragged out to the driveway ahead of time, since Louie hauls each piece out of the room it's in.

Homeowners and renters call to clear out a room, and apartment and condo managers call with a unit to empty. The junk is in a home people live in, so Louie works past finished floors and the neighbors next door. When the job is one packed space instead, like a two-car garage full of boxes, the garage cleanout page covers it.

On a home job, the same man takes your call, sets the price and lifts the furniture. The person who quotes the dresser upstairs is the one who carries it down the stairs past your floors. He asks about the stairs and how far the carry runs before he gives the number. For a home job, that means one person knows the whole plan from the first call to the last trip out the door.

The full list of what goes on the truck, and what doesn't.

What's usually in a home's junk pile

Most home loads are things that wore out or stopped fitting. Old couches and loveseats. A mattress and box spring from the guest room. A fridge that quit or a washer that leaks. Boxes from a hall closet nobody has opened since moving in, and patio furniture that sat out too long. It's rarely one kind of thing. A single pickup can mix a bed frame with a bag of old bedding.

Some people call when they're finishing a project, like new furniture that just arrived or a condo getting ready to list. For a quick check on a piece, the list of household items Louie hauls and the ones he doesn't sorts it out.

What a house or apartment load costs

Every residential job starts at the $120 minimum. Past the minimum, the whole house or apartment load gets a single price, based on the truck space it fills. A single recliner sits near the bottom. A full spare room takes more space and costs more. Once the load is on, the number stays where it was quoted.

Two add-ons can come up in a home. A second-floor bedroom brings the upstairs charge of +$25, and a carry from the back of the lot that runs past 50 feet brings +$50. You hear about either charge when you get the price, never once the truck is loaded. Those are the only add-ons he lists. Pay by card, cash or Zelle, and the quote itself is free. The Whittier junk removal cost guide goes deeper on how load size sets the price.

How Louie works through a lived-in house

Louie starts by walking the path out. He checks the stairs, the turn at the landing, the side gate to the backyard and where the truck can park closest to the door. Then he carries each piece out from the room it's in. Nothing needs to be staged in the driveway first.

Most days it's Louie by himself. For a packed house or a heavy dresser on the second floor, he adds a small crew. You get an hour window for his arrival. He's open 24/7 and books homes in La Mirada, Cerritos and Rowland Heights the same way he books Whittier, along with every other town on Louie's route.

Apartments, condos and property managers

In an apartment or condo, the walk is usually harder than the junk. There's usually a stairwell or a long hallway between the unit and where the truck parks. Louie sizes that up on the call. If the unit is upstairs or the carry runs over 50 feet, he says so with the price, before anything moves.

Managers call when a tenant leaves a unit full or a resident needs one heavy piece gone. Louie works out the timing with the manager and how he gets into the unit. The manager gets one number for the whole unit. A renter in the building just points to what goes. Call or text (562) 781-9101 with the unit and what's in it.

What Louie leaves behind at a house

Most of a household can go on the truck. A few things can't. Concrete and dirt stay off the truck, so the cracked pavers along the fence and the old potting soil bags are yours to keep. Same with anything loose enough to need a shovel, like sweepings piled in a garage corner. Paint, chemicals, fuel and asbestos are hazardous materials, and he leaves those too.

Around a house, that's mostly leftover paint cans on a shelf and the mower's gas can. Pull those aside before he gets there so the rest of the load goes out in one pass. Ask about any odd item on the call and Louie will give you a straight answer.

Where the couch and the boxes end up

Donation comes first. A local donation center gets the solid wood table and the good dresser, since furniture that still works can land in another home. Materials that can be recycled go that way when possible. Whatever is real trash, like a torn mattress pad or a particleboard shelf that came apart, goes to the landfill.

It helps to mention on the call which pieces are still in good shape, so Louie knows what to set aside for donation. A home load is usually a mix of all three. Sorting it is part of Louie's job, and you don't have to do it before he arrives.

How the price works

Call or text (562) 781-9101. Louie looks at how much room it takes on the truck and gives you one number for the whole job. The number doesn't change once it's loaded. Jobs start at $120. The only add-ons: upstairs +$25, carry over 50 feet +$50. He tells you before he starts. More on how pricing works.

Where Louie does this

All of the surrounding LA and Orange County cities. In unincorporated communities like Hacienda Heights, the county zoning code does not allow junk and salvage to be stored on a home's property. Cerritos code enforcement treats debris or trash visible from the street as a residential violation. Montebello's code enforcement guide says junk, trash and debris may not be left in the yard.
