Louie Villareal does yard waste removal in Whittier and the surrounding LA and Orange County cities. He hauls off what's left after a weekend of yard work. Call or text (562) 781-9101. Most yard piles are bulky and light, like palm fronds, cut limbs and hedge trimmings, and they usually sit in the backyard or down the side yard. Louie carries them out from right where they sit.

Louie gets the call once the trimming is done and the heap by the side gate is more than any bin will hold. A pile like that is too much to feed out a few branches at a time. He works out of Whittier and runs yard jobs the same way in Norwalk, La Habra, Downey and every other town Louie covers around Whittier. Louie prices the pile himself on the phone and usually loads a yard pile alone. When a big tree trim leaves more limbs than one man can carry, he brings a small crew.

What ends up in a yard waste pile

Most yard piles start with palm fronds after a trim. Then come limbs from a tree that dropped a branch in the wind, rose canes, hedge cuttings, dead shrubs that already came out of the ground, and bags of leaves raked up from under the big tree out back. It fills room on the trailer long before it gets heavy.

Old yard stuff usually rides along with it. A rotted planter box, a broken trellis, the cracked plastic pots stacked behind the garage, a patio chair that gave out last summer. Louie loads those with the green waste in the same trip. If the old shed in the back corner has to go too, that's its own job, covered on the page for shed removal and teardown.

Who calls Louie for a yard pile

Homeowners call after a weekend of trimming leaves a heap along the fence that the trash cans will never catch up with. Families call when a parent's backyard got away from them for a few years and the house is about to be sold or rented out.

Landlords and property managers call between tenants, when the back patio of a rental is buried in dead plants, old pots and fallen fronds. A manager running a few units can book the pickup by phone and tell Louie which gate opens to the yard and where the pile sits. Louie is open 24/7, so a manager who only gets to the phone late at night can still set it up.

How Louie gets the pile out of the backyard

Nothing has to be dragged out front first. Louie carries the pile out from where it sits, whether that's the back fence or the narrow strip down the side of the house. He hauls with a truck and a 6 x 12 x 4 hydraulic dump trailer, and branches go in by the armload until the pile is gone.

A little prep makes the walk out easier. Tie the bags so leaves stay inside on the way to the trailer. Long limbs load quicker when they're cut to a length one person can carry, though Louie can work with what's lying there. Let him know about a locked side gate or a dog in the yard when you book. Call or text (562) 781-9101.

Where the branches and bags end up

Louie sorts the load before it goes anywhere. Anything still usable comes off first. A patio chair with life left in it or a stack of good clay pots goes to a local donation center, where someone else can put it to work in their own yard.

Material that can be recycled gets recycled when possible. What's left, like the split plastic pots and the odd soda can mixed into the pile, goes to the landfill. If there's something in the pile you want to keep, like a good hose reel or a planter you meant to reuse, pull it aside before Louie loads so it doesn't ride off with the rest.

What stays behind on a yard job

Louie won't take a pile that needs to be shoveled. Loose grass clippings on the lawn or a mound of raked leaves with no bag fall in that group. If it can't be picked up by hand or in a bag, it stays. Bag the leaves and clippings and they load fine.

Dirt and concrete stay too. That means old soil from a raised bed and broken concrete pavers. Hazardous materials are refused, and a yard has its share of them. The gas can for the mower and the old jug of weed killer stay behind. Here's the dirt, concrete and hazardous materials Louie leaves behind.

What a yard waste pickup costs

Every job starts at a $120 minimum. Past that, Louie gives one number for the whole pile, set by how much room it takes on the truck. Branches are light but they sprawl, so a big tangle of limbs can take more space than its weight would suggest. Once he names the number and loads, it doesn't change.

Two add-ons can come up on a yard job. A pile at the far end of a deep lot can mean a carry over 50 feet, which is +$50. If the pile is upstairs, that's +$25. Each one is named before the work starts and never added after. The quote itself costs nothing. Senior and military discounts are offered, so mention either one when you call.

If you'd rather load the yard waste yourself, Louie also rents out his 6 x 12 x 4 hydraulic dump trailer for $650, which includes up to 3 tons of dump weight. The details are on the page for renting the dump trailer.

How the price works

Call or text (562) 781-9101. Louie looks at how much room it takes on the truck and gives you one number for the whole job. The number doesn't change once it's loaded. Jobs start at $120. The only add-ons: upstairs +$25, carry over 50 feet +$50. He tells you before he starts. More on how pricing works.

Questions

Questions about yard waste removal.

How much does yard waste removal cost?
It starts at $120, the minimum for any job. Louie sets one price for the whole pile by how much room it takes on the truck. The only add-ons are upstairs at +$25 and a carry over 50 feet at +$50.
Do the leaves need to be bagged?
Yes. Louie doesn't take piles that need to be shoveled, so loose leaves and grass clippings should go in bags first. Branches, fronds and hedge cuttings can stay as they are.
Will Louie take dirt from old planters?
No. Dirt is on the won't-take list along with concrete, so soil from planters or a raised bed stays behind. Empty the pots and he can take the pots.
Does the pile have to be moved to the front?
No. Louie carries it out from where it sits, in the backyard or along the side of the house. If that walk runs over 50 feet, the +$50 add-on applies.
How soon can Louie pick up a yard pile?
In Louie's own words, a "24 hour turn around." Same-day pickup is possible, so ask when you book. Call or text (562) 781-9101.
