After a trim or a windstorm, Louie Villareal clears the cut limbs and logs from yards in Whittier and the nearby LA and Orange County cities. Call or text (562) 781-9101 once the cutting is done and the pile is ready to go. This job is the wood left over once the cutting stops, like cut branches across the lawn or palm fronds stacked against the garage wall. Louie loads all of it and hauls it off, so nobody has to chop limbs into small pieces or carry them out a little at a time.

Tree debris is a different load from furniture, boxes or the mixed piles on the debris removal page. It's long and springy, and it takes up room fast. A few big limbs with the leaves still on can fill a lot of trailer space while weighing very little. Fronds have sharp edges near the base, and a trimmed tree leaves a scatter of small pieces around the big ones. Louie's job is to get all of that loaded tight and gone in one trip when the size of the pile allows it.

If the pile is mostly grass, leaves and garden cleanup, yard waste removal is the closer fit. Louie's tree jobs are about the wood, from one broken limb to a whole tree's worth of trimmings. Louie is based in Whittier and drives to Norwalk, La Habra, Hacienda Heights, Downey and every other LA and Orange County town on his list. He prices and hauls every one of those jobs himself.

What's in a tree debris pile and who calls

A tree debris pile is mostly cut wood. Branches and limbs, logs and rounds cut from a trunk, palm fronds with the stiff bases still on, and the loose trimmings that drop while a tree gets shaped. Some piles are a few limbs off the lemon tree. Others are the whole canopy of a big tree that just came down. What sets this job apart from a garage or furniture haul is that the whole load is one material, and it's usually outside.

The calls come from a few directions. A homeowner trimmed the backyard tree on a Saturday and ran out of room. A tree crew finished the cutting and left the wood where it fell. A manager at a complex has fronds stacked by the carports after the palms were done. After a windstorm, someone has a limb across the back fence and needs it gone.

How Louie gets the wood out of the yard

Louie comes to the pile. Limbs stuck in the backyard behind a narrow side gate are fine where they are. He brings them out through the gate himself. Long branches ride on the trailer lengthwise. Fronds get stacked flat so they don't eat up room. He lifts the logs in by hand. Thorny citrus trimmings get loaded without dragging them across the patio. He hauls with a truck and a 6 x 12 x 4 hydraulic dump trailer.

Louie usually works alone. When a big tree came down and the rounds are heavy, he brings a small crew so the job keeps moving. At an apartment complex or a rental, he can work out with the manager where the pile sits and when he can get to it, so tenants aren't left guessing.

What tree debris hauling costs

The price for the wood is one figure that stays put after loading. That figure comes from the space the branches and logs fill on the trailer. With tree debris, that means a tangle of leafy limbs can cost more than a neat stack of logs that weighs more, because the limbs take up more of the trailer. The minimum is $120, so a single fallen limb that fits easily still starts there. A whole tree's worth of trimmings that fills the trailer costs more, since it takes up more room.

Two add-ons can apply, and Louie names either one before the work starts. Upstairs is +$25. Carry over 50 feet is +$50. Neither one gets tacked on afterward. He takes card, cash or Zelle, and the quote is free. Call or text (562) 781-9101.

What Louie leaves behind on a tree job

Louie doesn't take concrete or dirt, and on a tree job dirt shows up more than people think. Wood that comes up with soil packed around it, or a pile that's half mud after a storm, runs into that line. He also won't take piles that need to be shoveled, so a loose heap of wood chips or sawdust that would have to be shoveled isn't something he'll load.

Hazardous materials stay behind too. That means paint, chemicals, fuel or asbestos, and on a tree job it can mean the gas can for the chainsaw or a jug of weed or stump killer sitting next to the pile. Set those aside before he gets there. For the rest of the list, see what goes on the truck.

Where the branches and logs go after pickup

Branches, logs and fronds go through the same order as every load Louie hauls. Wood a local donation center can use goes there first, wood that can be recycled gets recycled when possible, and what nothing else can use goes to the landfill.

A clean stack of logs and a pile of fronds mixed with broken limbs aren't the same load, and Louie decides where each part goes once it's off the property. Tell him what's in the pile when you call, so he knows whether it's mostly logs, mostly fronds or a mix of both. If you want to know where your wood ended up, ask him. He answers the phone himself.

How the price works

Call or text (562) 781-9101. Louie looks at how much room it takes on the truck and gives you one number for the whole job. The number doesn't change once it's loaded. Jobs start at $120. The only add-ons: upstairs +$25, carry over 50 feet +$50. He tells you before he starts. More on how pricing works.

Where Louie does this

All of the surrounding LA and Orange County cities. Downey's trash guide puts palm fronds in the black landfill barrel, not the green one. La Habra's green cart does not take palm fronds or tree stumps. Norwalk asks for branches cut and tied in bundles no longer than 4 feet when they go out for bulky pickup. Questions

Questions about tree debris removal.

How much does tree debris removal cost?
The minimum is $120. Brush takes up space fast, so the trailer room it fills is what sets the single figure he quotes. The only add-ons are upstairs (+$25) and carry over 50 feet (+$50), and he names them before he starts.
Do I have to drag the branches to the curb?
No. Logs stacked in the back corner of the yard get carried out by hand, one at a time. If the carry runs over 50 feet, he tells you about the +$50 add-on before any work begins.
Will Louie take a pile of wood chips or mulch?
No, not if it has to be shoveled. Louie doesn't take piles that need shoveling, and he doesn't take dirt. Cut branches, logs, fronds and trimmings he can pick up and load are what this job covers.
Can he come after a storm knocks a limb down?
Yes. Louie is open 24/7 with a 24 hour turn around. Same-day pickup is possible, but it isn't promised. Call or text (562) 781-9101.
Can I rent a trailer and load the branches myself?
Yes. Louie rents out his 6 x 12 x 4 hydraulic dump trailer for $650, which includes up to 3 tons of dump weight. Loads over 3 tons cost extra, and that amount isn't set yet. Details are on the dump trailer rental page.
