Scrap metal removal in Whittier
Carried out from where it sits in Whittier, even the heavy pieces nobody can lift alone.
Old metal piles up in garages, side yards and shops across Whittier and the nearby LA and Orange County cities, and Louie hauls it off. Water heaters, metal bed frames, patio furniture and old appliances can all go out in one load, from a single piece to a garage full of metal. Call or text (562) 781-9101 to get a price. Scrap metal removal is the heavy, awkward end of junk hauling. Think of the dead water heater in the garage, a rusted patio set, a steel bed frame leaning on the side fence or a washer that quit years ago. Metal weighs more than it looks, and the lifting is the part Louie takes off your hands.
A typical scrap pile is the old water heater left in the driveway after a swap, or a side yard of bent patio chairs and old bike frames. Rentals collect metal too, from a bed frame left behind to shelving and a washer that quit. If the job is one big appliance, the appliance removal page covers that on its own. Scrap metal is the mixed pile where metal is the main thing.
Louie started Cast Out Hauling in 2025 and runs it himself, so the person who prices the metal on the phone is the same one lifting it onto the truck. He's based in Whittier and works the towns around it on both sides of the LA and Orange County line, from Norwalk and Downey to Fullerton, Brea and La Habra. The full list of towns he drives to has the rest.

What counts as scrap metal on a haul
Scrap metal is anything mostly made of metal that you want gone. Old washers and dryers, steel bed frames, patio tables and chairs, water heaters, metal shelving, filing cabinets, old bike frames and lengths of pipe left over from a plumbing job all count. Even a single dead water heater is a full job on its own.
Two things set it apart from a regular junk load. The pieces are heavy for their size, so a water heater or a cast iron tub takes real muscle to move even though it barely dents the room on the truck. Those are the jobs people put off for years, because one person can't move them. And metal tends to pile up where nobody likes to dig, behind the garage or along the side fence, usually with a few years of rust and spiders on it.
Where the metal goes after it leaves
A patio set that still stands up straight or a bed frame with all its bolts can go to a local donation center first, since someone else can use it. Bare metal that's done being useful, like a rusted-out water heater or a bent shelving unit, gets recycled when possible. Whatever is real trash, like the torn vinyl straps off an old patio chair, goes to the landfill.
If you'd rather haul a few pieces yourself, the guide to where to dump junk in and around Whittier lists the spots.
What a scrap metal haul costs
The quote is a single figure for the whole pile, based on the space the metal fills in the trailer. A cast iron tub takes muscle but little room, and room is what sets the number. The minimum is $120, which is where a small metal haul starts. A bigger pile of patio furniture, shelving and old appliances takes more room and costs more. Once he quotes it and the metal is loaded, that number doesn't change. The quote itself costs nothing.
Only two extras are on his list. An iron bed frame that has to come down from a second-floor bedroom adds +$25. A water heater that has to be carried more than 50 feet, say from the back corner of a long lot, adds +$50. Nothing else gets tacked on after the metal is loaded. Card, cash and Zelle all work. Senior and military discounts are offered too, so mention it when you call for the quote.
Metal jobs Louie turns down
Most metal is fine, but a few things that show up in a scrap pile stay behind. Old paint, chemicals, fuel and anything with asbestos are hazardous, and they stay off the trailer. That matters more on metal jobs than most, because gas cans with fuel still in them, paint cans and half-empty chemical jugs tend to live on the same garage shelf as the scrap. Leave those out of the pile and the rest can go. If you're not sure about something on the shelf, ask Louie when you call.
Concrete and dirt are also off the list. A heap of loose nails, screws and shavings that would need a shovel stays behind as well.
How Louie moves the heavy pieces
You don't have to drag the metal anywhere first. Louie carries the metal out from where it sits, like a water heater closet off the garage or the strip of side yard behind a gate. The pieces ride out on his truck and 6 x 12 x 4 hydraulic dump trailer. Most days Louie works alone. A cast iron tub or a stack of heavy pieces on a staircase is when a small crew comes along.
A property manager can set up a unit's metal pickup with one phone call. Louie works out an hour window that suits the tenant or the shop. Cast Out is open 24/7, and Louie describes his timing as a "24 hour turn around." When a whole garage is going, not just the metal, the garage cleanout page is the better fit.
How the price works
Call or text (562) 781-9101. Louie looks at how much room it takes on the truck and gives you one number for the whole job. The number doesn't change once it's loaded. Jobs start at $120. The only add-ons: upstairs +$25, carry over 50 feet +$50. He tells you before he starts. More on how pricing works.
